It is easy to give then forget when the pain and suffering are not our own. When we can write a check and feel good for a moment then go out to dinner.

But you are very enlightened my friend in what you say with this post. The less we border ourselves off and the more we let their sorrows touch our deepest selves, then, then we will not walk away so quickly and hopefully one day no one will walk away at all.

Thank you for your continued reminder of how blessed we are and how so many are suffering still.

Sometimes I get enamored with the mission, the work ahead, and I find myself overwhelmed by the enormity of everything before me. Your words clarify my true mission: To love God with all of my heart. To Love my neighbor as myself.

What a powerful dream! Did you every think that what you received from the man in your dreams was not his disease, but his undying spirit of hope and unconditional love?

As I read your dream, I saw, being Christian, Jesus as the man in your dream...or it could have been Buddha or any other great Enlightened one. The point is, that the hug you received was a gift for seeing the man as a spirit in need. You do this so well, my dear. You are the Light for us all.

I hear you my friend.

And i've missed you too.

We all do the best we can given the circumstances of our lives.

Sometimes we want to give but people won't allow us to share what it is which we want to give.

But I am speaking here about needs so deep, so searing that even the smallest gift that we can give makes a difference.

And i talk not just of materials or money...but of allowing ourselves to become part of anothers story...to become their champion in the strife...

I think its an illusion that there is a 'limit' to our capacity to give.

I am blessed not so much in my 'opportunites' to give...but to see ordinary people around me who are masters at loving kindness...

I learn from them that Seneca was right.... "Wherever theres a human being theres an opportunity for kindness"...

We can hold the world in our hearts... It is possible... as long as we are focussed upon finding solutions... on the mantra of the lover which is always "How can I help?".

I might add here, that in order for us to serve others we need to be kind to ourselves... to honour our bodies and minds.

I know the kind of love i'm suggesting here is radical Kyles ;)... Its very counter cultural in a society where we are taught to respect boundaries and limits...

Yet it has been my experience that we can break down these boundaries... and enter into an intimacy with those of our brothers and sisters who are suffering.

It is not easy. It is not romantic or sentimental. It often means we need to deal with our own woundedness, our own garbage in the process...

But it is possible.

And that possibility excites me...

as for your message for today, sometimes i see great need and the person involved wont allow me to share it, sometimes i know i cant. maybe your opportunities are better than most but most of us are just doing what we can.

having said all of that, i get the point, there is always some more we can do
